Nutritional support to families through provision of food rations

129 Children supported with adequate nutrition

Nawiri CDP, in the financial year ending June. 2019, managed to support 35 enrolled households from Maikona and Archers Post with 195 gallah goats, the aim of the intervention is to improve restocking program aimed at uplifting economic status of needy families. Goats do well in ASAL (Arid and semi-Arid lands) areas, their productivity is high and likelihood of supporting household with milk and meat will increase protein intake at household level boosting the nutrition status of under 5 yearolds in the family.

In the financial year  we supported 58 care givers;  28 female and 7 male, through V, S & L trainings in Archers and Marsabit sites, the training included how to generate income through savings from village group members. Naashapa Women group from Archers Post, Samburu County started a bead work project where they make and sell beads to both local and International tourist along Samburu National Reserve

In the spirit of ensuring a sustained effort to improve nutrition for vulnerable children among the community, Nawiri Child Development Programme, in Maikona have this financial year supported 9 vulnerable children, 4 girls and 5 boys, on quarterly basis with food items. The children were supplied with dry food items like rice, sugar, maize, beans, oil, tea leaves and milk throughout the 12 months of the year.

14 CYA supported to access health care services

14(8M & 6 FF) Most needy enrolled children suffer from diseases beyond the capacity of their families to seek medical attention thus require specialized medical care. The project referred these children to various hospitals for further medical checks up. The cases recovered well and were able to re-unite with their families in good health.
