NCDP  has actively ensured that infants and young children have improved age-appropriate development and early learning outcomes and are protected at home and in their communities.

Maternal and Child Health

Every year, there is a cases of maternal deaths which can be preventable with timely management by a skilled health professional working in a supportive environment. its our concern to ensure ending preventable maternal death and also expand efforts reducing maternal injury and disability to promote health and wellbeing.

We implement program that Address inequalities that affect health outcomes, especially sexual and reproductive health and rights and gender, it is fundamental to ensuring all women have access to respectful and high-quality maternity care.

Nutrition

Nawiri programming works to fight against malnutrition, because the right nutrition at the right time builds the capacity to dream, it fuels the power to achieve, and it lays the foundation upon which to build a better world for our children. Nawiri train and mobilize community health workers to provide nutrition services to caregivers.

Sexual and Reproductive Health

inadequate sexual reproduction health remain critical issue in Marsabit, Isiolo and Samburu county. which result to higher rate of early pregnancy, unsafe abortion, spread for sexually transmitted disease, this has been due to challenges such as cultural barriers, gender inequality and insufficient health care infrastructure.

In collaboration with our partners,  leaders and advocacy groups, and engaging community health workers to promote SRH awareness and address cultural and social barriers, we work to foster community support and increase the uptake of SRH services and practices. 

Water, Sanitation and Hygiene 

Clean water is fundamental to child’s health, poor sanitation and unsafe drinking water is major contributor of stunt growth and malnutrition of children,  it will also lead to spread of water born disease such as typhoid, cholera.

Women and girls most often bear the responsibility of collecting water and managing fuel sources needed to boil water and ensure it is clean enough to drink. Improved WASH facilities reduce the time and physical burden associated with these tasks, enhance educational opportunities for girls and improve overall gender equity. 

Nawiri child development program work  with local partner to enhance improving access to water and sanitation facilities, supporting local water and sanitation committees to manage and maintain water sources, and educating children and families on the importance of safe water and healthy practices.

sexual abuse and gender-based violence Education

Every Year children are subjected to sexual abuse and gender-based violence which has been as result of food shortage which made child vulnerable in society, harmful cultural practices such as early marriages and girl child Circumcision. Nawiri child development programme works toward ending  children violence.

Real Stories

water

Caregivers are support with water tanks

Caregivers from Marsabit and Isiolo were supported with 1500 liters water tank each. This is meant to help them harvest rain water, this water will be used for domestic purposes which will reduce unhygienic disease outbreaks.

community- based child protection (CBCP) programs

The programme supported the department of children services to domesticate the children’s safeguards. The advocacy actions were effective in strengthening the community- based child protection (CBCP) system activities in Isiolo.

Agro based livelihood training for woman and caregivers

Organized groups were supported to set up demo farms for support in establishing a hydroponic model farm in Marsabit, and Maikona. This activity promoted food security and livelihood resilience among the targeted groups and promoted access to nutritive vegetables for the under-fives.

Complete Construction of two-door toilet at Bas Balesa, Maikona

Nawiri cdp consructed two door toilet. The program enhanced good sanitation and hygiene among learners. The program was completed in Bas Balesa Ward Maikona Sub County, Marsabit County.

A supported child with the caregiver with the Solvatten kit.

Nawiri Child Development Programme supported by ChildFund Kenya distributed Solvatten kits to 444 (116 Male and 328 Female) households. The said households were from Marsabit County. The beneficiaries were identified through the existing structures and special consideration was given to vulnerable families living off grid. The beneficiaries were trained on safe water system component, what Solvatten is, how the system works, advantages of solvatten over the other water treatment methods and the frequently asked questions about Solvatten and on the safety and maintenance of the kits were answered.

Children under five years during a Health screening exercise in Maikona

Health screening is a quick check to identify possible health or develop mental concerns in infants and young children needing a health assessment. the Nawiri child development programme and Maikona community site office conducted health screening for all enrolled children under five.The main objective of the screening was to make sure that all enrolled children are physically healthy, which is an integral part of supporting their ongoing growth and development and enhancing and promoting proper well-being.
