600 IYC caregivers supported in parenting education programs and support networks

In collaboration with department of health, Nawiri Child Development Programme trained 600 (33 M, 567 F) caregivers in Archers Post, Samburu County, Marsabit and Maikona, Marsabit County on IMCI (intergrated management of childhood illnesses), malezi bora intiatives, child immunization, importance of breast feeding and importance of NHIF (National Hospital Insurance Fund) cover for the family.The training took 3 days each across all the zones in the programme area of coverage. In most instances, primary caregivers form the foundation of child health and development, having consistent caregivers who respond to their needs and provide love, interaction and play will stimulate their growth at tender age. For sharing such vital information, the expected results are sensitized caregivers who are responsive, knowledgeable and support child development needs.

2 ECD centers supported with Development of age appropriate playing and learning materials

With overall objective of enhancing awareness and fundamental importance of ECCD, the organization during the financial year ended supported 2 ECD Centers with assorted playing materials benefitting 310 children (158 M, 152 F). This will promote quality learning for children at the center and as well reduce congestions in class.

ECD Fun day supported

In the same period of the financial year under review, in collaboration with the department of ECDE, fun days were supported across the 3 counties of Samburu, Isiolo and Marsabit. These sessions were meant for children to have fun and play which are vital aspects in growth and development of a child. Various games were played by children supported by ECDE teachers and other government officials who graced the occasion. The programme supported 3 ECDE centres from every 4 sites of Nawiri which totals to 12 in number.
